Session 7 — Bounce in Borders

Opening concept: Rules can keep a robot safe inside a defined space.

Activity:

  • Scan the bounce-in-borders barcode. Edison detects the border line and bounces away.
  • Build custom arenas with black tape on a large sheet of paper. Different shapes — square, L-shape, circle.
  • Challenge: which arena shape is hardest for Edison to stay inside? Which is easiest?
  • Two arenas racing: time how long each robot stays in bounds

Engineering connection: Why does shape matter? What would you change about Edison’s bounce behavior if you could?

Materials: Large paper sheets or tabloid, thick black tape, ruler, barcode list
