Session 7 — Maze Challenge

Opening concept: Harder problems need more iteration, not more guessing.

Activity:

  • Students build their own mazes for another team (constraints: at least 3 turns, must have a start and finish marker)
  • Teams swap mazes and program Edison to navigate the new maze
  • Scoring: fastest time to complete the maze successfully wins
  • If a team finishes fast, they try their maze blindfolded (one person reads the program aloud, other navigates mentally)

Engineering connection: Designing a challenge for someone else requires understanding the problem deeply

Materials: Devices, USB cables, maze-building materials, timer
