Session 8 — Ball Game with EdBlocks

Opening concept: A program can handle the boring part so you can focus on the hard part.

Activity:

  • Ball game setup — but now students write an EdBlocks program for the approach run (drive precisely to ball pickup position from start zone)
  • Once in position, switch to a pre-set barcode (clap control or obstacle avoidance) for the delivery run
  • Competition: how many deliveries in 5 minutes?
  • Debrief: how did programming the approach change your performance?

Engineering connection: Automation handles repeatable steps; human control handles variable ones
