Session 7 — Music and Performance
Opening concept: Engineers can choose to make something beautiful, not just functional.
Activity:
- EdBlocks Activities 20–21: musical note blocks, combining lights and music
- Students program a short performance: a melody + coordinated light pattern, ending with a drive move
- “Robot Talent Show” — each team presents their performance. Class votes for favorite.
- Bonus challenge: can you program the chorus of a real song? (Simple ones: Happy Birthday, Mary Had a Little Lamb)
Engineering connection: Creative coding — requirements are aesthetic, not just functional
Materials: Devices, USB cables, simple sheet music reference (note → EdBlocks note block mapping)
