Session 4 — Quad Squad: Geometry Challenge
Opening concept: STEAM means the math and the engineering are the same problem.
Activity:
- Full Quad Squad lesson (from
curriculum/AdditionalActivities/Quad-Squad-robots.pdf) - Students program Edison to drive all four types of quadrilateral: square, rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid
- Compare interior angles for each shape, calculate the exterior turn angle, program it, test it
- Debrief: which shape was hardest? Why? (Trapezoid — non-uniform turns)
Engineering connection: Understand before Build — write the turn angles down before programming them
Materials: Devices, USB cables, Quad Squad student sheets, protractors, rulers
